Names were the interesting kind of thing. Listening to someone talk—it only takes a few moments to pick up someone’s name, and who they are. Names were not light things among wolves. Aside posture and position, the way someone spoke could anger another wolf quite easily whether they wanted it or not. It certainly was not unheard of for wolves to think particular familiar names insulting or harshly reject such a claim to friendship. Some even refused to share names, especially among loners, as association was never a good thing on thinner meatless years.
It was the same thing with actions. Over friendless was often misinterpreted and almost always arouse with suspicion among loners. Helping another was unheard of—unless of course, two wolves were trying to court each other, but that was a different story. Thinking about it now, it was probably why so many males that she’d met had stayed so clingy… It suddenly occurred to her why many of them were so reluctant with parting—did they actually hope for something more?
Certainly, Kai was around the age to mate, though she’d never really thought about settling down. Actually, correcting herself, she didn’t really want to settle down in some dark dank den where she couldn’t see anything. Nor did she want tiny furballs climbing around her when she would be dying to be running around to get out of whatever place they decided to settle in. It was rather a depressing thought—she would be a terrible parent, wouldn’t she?
Kai shook her head, trying to get rid of the thought. It wasn’t often when she got lost in the thoughts, and it was such a waste of time. Kai eyed curiously when Nae finally noticed Emi’s scattered wounds—she’d been counting on getting her reaction, though Nae’s actions somewhat reminded her of a mother cat fussing over her kittens. She wasn’t sure it was a good thing or a bad thing, but Kai perked up suddenly when she caught a hint of movement.
Emi had let out a slight protest before Nae followed to treat his cut. But when Emi had reacted—note key word, reacted—everything seemed to happen in a blur. Emi had leaned forward and… touched her cheek? Kai’s heart was pounding; it kept screaming at her unknowing self that something was wrong with that scene, but she was too thick to hear. She felt something she didn’t want happening, but she would have refused to admit it anyways had she known.

The wolfess momentarily froze and backed away as soon as she gathered hold of what was happening. This is so very wrong here! She jumped to the side suddenly, squirmed out of the way of the male, just before he had the chance to touch her, making sure he never felt her face. Sheer terror was in her wide eyes. Never, not once had she ever experienced such in her lifetime. Perhaps because then she had been too young, but this was real. This was horrifying. Naell backed away, tried to, frozen in her steps. She was drowning. She knew this wasn't right. She had actually known what was and wasn't right, or at least felt so, ever since she entered TWR lands. And now... she was frightened. She never knew that another wolf could scare her so easily. Nae could hardly move, she struggled to look away, run away, do something before she was taken. Naell fell, that jerked movement she had done to set herself free giving her dire consequences. Naell, instead of blaming it all on Emi, kept her gaze stubbornly on a blooming flower in front of her, scolding herself for being so oblivious. It was always her fault, and she was always so reckless. Naell backed up, toward Kai as though for protection. She had lost it completely, terror seizing her. You silly girl! Why did you have to go ahead and get that close?! She was very self conscious, deathly afraid of what was going on. What had just happened, though it hadn't been much, set her on fire. Naell looked away resolutely, finally knowing what was happening. What was worse still, she couldn't protect herself. Not while the agonizing pain coursed through her body, her spine, the sudden jolts stiffening her. It was trapping her right in her tracks, a prisoner consumed by fear, hatred, frustration that had built up trapped over the years. She was in deep pain.

The entire atmosphere changed by just one small movement. It seemed to him like a blurred rush. Something out of his control. But then everything was spinning, blending together. He could feel his heart pounding in his ears. He could taste the desire in his mouth, as bitter and sharp as the blood that seeped from his tongue.
They were both frozen. Once he scrambled to his paws he could see that. Naell had moved out of the way when he attempted to nuzzle her cheek; he hadn't even touched a single thread of her fur.
But what felt the most like a knife in his chest was the look of terror scribbled across her face. He saw other emotions, too. Horror. Hate. Frustration. Instinctively he wanted to move forward, to pick up a smooth persona and pat away her worries. Somehow the adrenaline had given him strength, and he felt like he could do it.
He could lie. He could be charismatic and charming. Was it really too late? He could make up some excuses... He was very good at pretending. Emi felt his mind going back to what he was used to. Figuring out the easiest ways to get her to fall for him. His attention was focused on her. He couldn't go on with such loneliness for much longer.
But watching her, noting every readable feeling that flitted through her eyes, he truly wished he could stop. Why was that so hard?
Because he was an addict.
A long moment passed in silence on his part. Finally he took a deep breath and looked away. The ache was starting to come back. The adrenaline faded. Pain contorted his face, but he fought against the Hunger.
"I'm sorry," He finally said pathetically.
Emierhin took a clumsy step away from them. He knew that he should leave. Knew that they were better off away from him. After all, he was nothing but a murderer. A liar. He didn't deserve any such pleasure or company. His head lowered. And yet...he still couldn't find it in him to depart from the two females.

She was shuddering. She hadn’t noticed earlier, but she was shuddering. Suddenly very unsure, Kai tried to stop herself from the throbbing.
"Emi…" she found herself whispering, but her voice caught on a snag, and nothing else came out.
What she felt—Kai found herself lost. Was she appalled? Shocked? Her brow furrowed. Those weren’t the right words. She couldn’t place it right. Almost betrayed? …but that didn’t make sense. How could she feel betrayed when there was nothing to be betrayed of—or was that it? Kai could find herself.
But Emi… how… how exactly could he ever had done something like that? Maybe it was stupid to try and make an assumption about him, but she was sure Emi wasn't evil (or anything like that). She had felt him—when she shared her strength with him, she had felt what he was like; what kind of person he was—the thing that was there inside of him sucked away and came alive greedily when it felt her among it. But that wasn’t Emi. Kai had felt that.
That black thing—she couldn’t see anything through it. Honestly, she hadn’t seen through it at all. It wasn’t right to say that she knew Emi. But she could have sworn: there was this moment less than a moment—it was less than a glance, and she wasn’t even sure, but she thought she saw something. Just a flutter of something more.
Something.
It was a great thing to put your trust in. Maybe she was stupid. Actually, Kai was pretty sure she was crazy. But she could have sworn… that something she felt… there was something about it that she liked.
Definitely. She was crazy.
She swallowed, and stepped forward. What kind of idiotic she-wolf approaches a stranger that practically… she didn’t want to think about it.
“I want to go for a walk” she complained suddenly to Emi, almost as if she had turned into a completely different wolf.
Again, she found herself prodding the male, only this time, it wasn’t as coaxingly as before, yet more of a little pup that didn’t like the scary noises that were going on and wanted to go somewhere else. Kai didn’t say anything to Naell, but she didn’t imply that she was unwelcome to follow either.

She was.. relieved, somehow, that he had backed away. The tension ceased, but she moved carefully to right herself, for fear of hurting her body in the presence of two others. Naell was glad she hadn't been paid any more attention to, and tried to get up on her legs again. She tested her paws so that if she failed, she wouldn't stumble and embarass Kai or Emierhin. Naell thought of trying to say something to make up for the awkward silence, but luckily Kai filled it in for her. Naell looked away toward the Lake's surface, as the answer that she'd rather stay here. It was too dangerous to go with one who had been tempted to have you. She closed her eyes. If Kai really wanted that risk, it was fine with her. But perhaps she doesn't know, a nagging voice said. Besides, what have you to lose? Naell looked again, then got up, having changed her mind. There was no way that she wasn't going anymore, but she would walk along the shore, closer to the other female's side, away from Emierhin for safety, trying to wash away the scent that drove him so. Nae looked at her reflection in the water while waiting, trying to see what was good in there anymore other than being a plaything for male wolves. What was it that held her, kept her away from the brinke of death. How Naell longed to cross that dangerous ridge, risk insanity just for a long and wonderfully deep sleep... But every time she tried, she lived. Why must she live, when life hurt so? Naell could never tell. Perhaps she was already insane, but it was better to think suicidal. At least she knew that, unlike her spine, an essential part in the survival, was still whole. Naell breathed in the wonderful fragrance of sweet flowers. It was so strong, unlike the ones that grew along the lakeside. The sweet smell that told every dark and desperate thought that grew in her mind. It compelled her to go on... Yet when gone, she knew so would the hope. Naell didn't want that light to go out, she wanted it to nurture so it could have the chance she didn't... Naell felt forgiveness for Emierhin wash over her. How could she remain angry when he shouldn't be shoved. He just needed.. Help, though how to help him she still didn't know. Naell was so useless. She couldn't even heal the wound that had been created when he had nearly touched her, the fear remained, as so did the caution.

He heard Kai voice his nickname, but it sounded harsh to his ears. Her tone was...betrayed, like he had purposefully hurt her seeming innocence. It made him flinch and he turned his face away from her piercing gaze. She stopped abruptly after the single word, saying nothing else.
A long silence followed, and Emi found that he couldn't stand it. Finally he spoke, "Now will you go?" He said. He sounded harsh and pained. He truly was beyond any shred of dignity he could have. He didn't think there was any point in trying a futile attempt at acting like everything was just great. No reason to try to be smooth and charming when he know it would fall to pieces at his feet, anyway.
Besides, he wasn't an idiot. They shouldn't have trusted him one bit in the first place, and their naivety had only placed them with him. Emierhin knew he could overpower either of them. And, honestly, in the state he was in, he wouldn't dismiss his strength. He had already tried to nuzzle one of the females. Both of them were now obviously scared. So why wouldn't they just leave?
He waited for them to turn and run, but to his dismay neither of them did. Naell moved some and stared at the lake, but she was still way too close. And Kai?
It was like something had snapped in her head. Instead of moving away, she walked toward Emi. Then she started nudging him like an obnoxious pup. Every touch sent his blood boiling with hunger. He could feel his head pounding, and he wanted to scream with frustration. Was she tormenting him on purpose?
Then she spoke in a nagging, whiny voice. She wanted to go on a walk, of all things. Anger bubbled up inside of the reddish brown male. He jerked away from her in one fluid movement. He turned his eyes to glare at her. He was aware that his actions might be alarming, but the knowledge was faint in his mind.
"Are you stupid or do you really not understand what you're doing?" He snapped, shutting his eyes against the pain that raged inside of him.
Emi stood, a few feet away from her. His legs shook. He found himself biting his tongue once more, and the blood started to spill down his lips once again.

Kai flinched as Emi jerked back suddenly, seeming so small in comparison to the male’s angered irritation. He snapped at her, asking if she was stupid. If she understand what she was doing.
Kai quivered slightly, and found herself unable to hold Emi’s piercing eyes that seemed filled with pained contempt. It was as if almost they appeared accusing. That he blamed her for everything that had occurred. It hurt her to have that thought. That everything Emi went through was all because Kai was there.
And then Emi was biting his tongue again, and then blood.
“Please, don’t do that!” Kai cried out on impulse finally, and fell silent. She found herself unable to look Emirhin, frozen in her words and steps.
“…it… hurts me when you do that.”
Kai was standing there, alone all in essence. Although Nael wasn’t far away, it was just Emi and her. A spotlight in a dark room upon her; the pressure of every single word. Nothing else seemed to matter.
She moved her paws slightly, wanting to move closer, but Emi’s words echoed in her head. She stopped herself.
Kai was stuck like that, not with the capability to leave, yet unable to step forward. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to leave; rather it was she could not. It didn’t exist in the capability of Kai to be able to turn herself on someone she had already started to befriend—it would rest on her forever that she had left Emi out there, to face whatever pain he had alone.
She couldn’t.

It took a moment for her to take in what she had just heard. The words semed to shake her awake, and she felt as though every move, every action and words she had showed had been robotic, and groggy.
Nae gazed into the water. The force of Emierhin's words nearly broke her into tears, but she wouldn't let herself. This was partially a question, but mostly a statement, an insult.
He may be right of my stupidity, Not too late after these thoughts was she horrified at herself for agreeing. Pull yourself together!
Shaking this from her mind, she thought of different things, all happening to be about her male companion. How come the male was so angry all the time? Was it now not a right to speak with rare company? Naell was immersed in her thoughts, unwilling to answer the male, but had raised her eyes and gazed at him.
Blood. Farther pain. She shivvered, ached because she had a slight idea that she might be making himself this hurt. "I..."
An unexpected responce came from Kai then, full of emotion and could not possibly be a joke in any way.
"Please, don’t do that! It… hurts me when you do that."
It had been surprising to hear anything so serious come from Kai's maw, she nearly jumped to hear it. Suddenly she felt very small, insignificant. Why should she remain here when she couldn't even be brave like her, she shouldn't be here, intruding on their privacy, the two's life.
What was it, she pondered, that was strong enough to make a wolf as Emierhin was? Perhaps a trauma that would hurt him, making him like...
Like she was now. The female couldn't stand to be reminded of her past, not now, and especially when she was already with whom she liked to think of as friends, though now she felt so alien to them. I'm just weak, Perhap's she could edge out of the picture to save them the trouble.
Why did she dread the next reply as if it were her death sentence?
